I have to admit looking into one of my fiend's laptop the other day with a five episode series entitled "grace vs. work ". I couldn't help on thinking that this issue is the contemporary christian heartbeat here in Jimma,,Ethiopia. On another occasion, while having coffee with my fellows, I noticed that the issue of grace of prophecy is another burning issue in the church. Honestly, its true that this grace, severely abused in Ethiopian protestant churches, is hurting many everyday. "Prophets" are telling their wills and wants under the cover of God's word this days. "God spoke on to me,..." is becoming easily phrased as " can I get an Amen?!!"
With this toughts and many more not mentioned I got on thinking, is this what God really wants?
The bible says,in the book of Ephesians, God's plan is for the church in the end times is to get hold of all nations under his son, Jesus Christ. But today's church is more concerned with other issues[of less importance] when the great mission is still un-met!
Why does this keep on happening? Why aren't we believers concerned with new souls? Why is the church becoming like a football team where if you know the game you will survive, but you will be knocked off, if you don't know the game or you make too many mistakes ?
.....all they want to do is show us how clean they are....! says my friend, who recently fled out of God's house,[ and still is a non believer] with a great anger and sorrow. If Jesus was here with us these days, I am pretty sure that the prostitute who poured a glass of perfume on his foot wouldn't get in a hundred miles diameter into where he resides. This is just my friend whom I mentioned, there are many more out there condemned for what they have done and all they see on the churches door is " NO ROOM! " sign.
I think we need change. No matter how clean I am says Paul on the book of Corinthians, even if I speak with angles tongue, I am a worthless bell!
As believers we need to show love, than discrimination. By love I mean a far away kind of love than the one expressed by hugging after church services or feeding the homeless on new year's eve. I mean the real love that Jesus thought us, loving all, forgiving those mistaken, and mostly SOUL FISHING!
